What is StartUp Shanghai?
Well, this is the place where you end up when you start to wonder who I am and what the heck I am doing in Shanghai. I hope these pages will give you an answer to that question. If they don't - drop me a few lines via e-mail.
Why am I here?
I think China is the natural place to be right now. Nowhere else in the world is the society and economy developing as fast as in China. The Chinese society will explode like this only once and I am sure there will be written many history books about this. These are very exiting times and it is a priviledge to, if not be part of it, at least observe it.
Of course one needs some kind of excuse to move to Shanghai, in the case of my family it was my wife's job that offered us the opportunity to establish a beach-head here.
What do I intend to do?
To be honest, I'm not quite sure yet. Right now im investing, quite heavily, of my time in learning to understand Chinese, both the language and the people.
I am also exploring the possibilites to support start-up ventures here in Shanghai - hence the domain name.
I am a very entrepreneurial person who likes to build and produce stuff, organizations beeing one example, so in the longer run I expect to either start some kind of venture of my own, or, leveraging my language and cultural skills, be employed by a, probably, Nordic company to help establish and run operations here in China.
